Who We Are

Hand to Hand is a local Giving Circle that attracts women who share these core beliefs: philanthropy matters, giving local means neighbor to neighbor, and small can have a BIG impact.

We have chosen to fund small nonprofit organizations that empower change and create self-sufficiency for those in need of more support. We find and visit organizations that will change lives.

To accomplish this Mission, members of Hand to Hand focus on finding organizations that fund and support programs in these 4 areas:

Job training & Education
Re-entering the work force
Mentoring Programs
Health & Wellness

What We Do

We make Grants in San Diego County that direct resources into our 4 focus areas. Our grants range between $5000 and $15,000. Grantees are chosen in part by their size because our members prefer to support small, local organizations with budgets under $2,000,000. These organizations often reach the most vulnerable first and can give very personal support to all age groups.

Our Giving Circle is self-funded by our members who pool their funds to achieve a greater impact. Members renew their membership annually through dues. We meet four times a year to select our grantees and make grant awards every year. We do not do any outside fundraising.

Why We Do It

The impact on the lives of those we support is profound and measurable!

By partnering with local nonprofits that directly support our neighbors in need, we help many different groups of people begin to recover, heal and thrive. Among them are homeless women and children, teens that have aged out of foster care with no other support, youth that have no mentors or advocates, hard to employ persons such as veterans, those in or leaving prison, those who have been battered or sex-trafficked, those who live in poverty for lack of employable job skills and countless others looking for hope, a positive change or a new beginning.
